The Haven Dog Centre – Force Free Dog Training

Getting a new puppy and worried about signing up for classes during this current time?

Don’t worry we’ve got you covered!

We’ve moved our classes to Live Online Video Classes, we meet up once a week on a live video conferencing system (which is easy to use). This enables live training together in the comfort of your own home.

But not only that we give you support during the week too through Facebook or Whatsapp, you can share your progress with us by adding videos for us to watch or by asking questions. We can then help by giving feedback to progress you and your pup in you learning with us.
We also have tutorial videos of exercises covered in your class so you have a visual reminder of how to train each exercise.

The cost of the Live Online Puppy Class is £32 for four weeks blocks or £10 per week. We still follow the curriculum where possible to our Puppy Life Skills 1, 2 and 3 classes.

The Haven Dog Centre Ltd was set up in 2015 by Rachael and Liam Landymore, a mother and son team. The main reason for creating the dog training centre was to provide a safe haven for dogs and their care givers, where the joining of minds and learning can take place in a friendly, fun, non-judgemental environment.

At the Haven, all dogs and care givers are treated as individuals and training is tailored to suit individual needs. Not only does the centre offer fun and force free positive training classes, one to one consultations, and workshops for dogs of all ages, it also offers holistic services (such as T-Touch), to help dogs to stay in good health and maintain a strong mental wellbeing.

The whole team at The Haven Dog Centre are passionate about dogs and are dedicated to finding the right support for you and your canine companion. We currently run classes from Taddiport Hall, near Torrington in North Devon.

Meet your Dog Trainers

The Haven Dog Centre boasts a dedicated team who maintain a strong ethos about making learning fun for dogs and humans alike. All our training sessions are force-free, positive and fun. We believe that by training dogs in a fun way, they learn because they want to, not because they have to. We are all supporters and members of Liam’s MOB and have each signed the Liam’s MOB Pledge, which talks about treating dogs with dignity, kindness, loyalty and respect.

The Latest Knowledge and Training

All of our current trainers have been trained by Tracey Berridge, the founder of Dogs Helping Kids, meaning that our staff have a wealth of professional expertise. However, we know that in the field of dog training, you can never stop learning, therefore our staff participate in courses and take new qualifications in dog training each year. It is very important that we are kept up to date with current science based dog training methods. (Please see individual trainer profiles for more details).

If you are looking for a behaviourist, we can help you there too, with the wonderful skills of Jordan Shelley. Jordan works extremely closely with The Haven and we are incredibly lucky to have him on board.
